This photo captured Niagara Square in the midst of its transition from the early city's premier residential address to a public and
civic center. In the years 1923-24 the following buildings were newly completed: Statler Hotel, Buffalo Athletic Club, offices of
E.B. Green Architects. In 1926, the Central High School will be demolished for construction of a New York State Office building.
In a few years, the trapezoid created by Niagara and Genesee Streets and Elmwood Avenue would be cleared for construction
of the Buffalo City Hall, 1929.
