Return of the A.m & A's Windows
Main Street Buffalo 2010

In 2010, twenty of the decorative Christmas window designs originally displayed by A.M.& A's, are once again visible on Main Street in downtown Buffalo. The Theatre District Association initiated the purchase of the figures The purchase of the large cache of figures aided by grants from the Wendt and Baird Foundations. The Rotary Club of Buffalo paid for restoration of 60 of the mechanical figures to operating condition. Others on display await future funding for restoration.

The tradition of the windows may have begun in the 1930s and more were added until there were hundreds of pieces of equipment on hand when A.M.& A's was sold to Bon-Ton in 1994. Bon-Ton promised to continue the "crowd pleaser" attraction. In early 1995, however, the company announced the closing of the Main Street flagship store and the figures were dispersed. The Village of Lancaster purchased the figurines telling the story of the "Night Before Christmas" and displays them each year.

The windows are operating during lunch hour and from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. every day until January 8, 2011.
