This three story classical revival structure is the third church building to stand at this location, land which was donated in 1822 on the efforts of young John Lazell, a Baptist immigrant to the Village. The first church was re-built in 1836.

J.N.Larned says in his history of Buffalo, "The parent church of the Buffalo Baptists gave up its ancient place of worship on Washington Street in 1894, making use of the Concert Hall in the Music Hall building until September, 1900, when its present fine edifice on North and North Pearl streets wqas dedicated."

Architect Robert A. Wallace designed the building. In recent years it was home to the New Life Assembly, organized in 1979.

In 2011, Ellicott Development purchased the property and plans commercial space on the ground floor and 11 residential units above. Photos of the interior (pre-renovation) are here.
